Whitney is a Project Architect with over twenty years of experience designing and running award-winning projects. Rather than a focus on one project type she has focused on thoughtful, interesting and thorough designs in a wide variety of types including: housing, educational facilities, museums, libraries, net-zero energy and corporate headquarters.
She loves making all manner of things and believes that design is design, from a building to a book, from a logo to a piece of jewelry. When she isn't working or making she is usually enjoying the outdoors and participating in youth sports with her family. Originally from North Carolina, Tim is an aspiring architect interested in translating urban design and practices onto rural landscapes in the United States.
Having grown up on a family tobacco farm, Tim is interested in an inherent architecture defined by planning, use, and form, and how that architecture can be reinterpreted in the contemporary. Personally, Tim is a jazz pianist and an avid record collector.
Upon graduation, Lisa immediately moved to the Bay Area to begin an inspired career and enjoy all that the West Coast has to offer.
She also surfed a few waves and snowboarded many mountains. Lisa has managed a variety of project types and sizes, with a passion for delivering quality design for non-profit organizations. Lisa enjoys meeting new people and developing professional relationships that often become long term friendships. During her free time, Lisa and her husband tackle life with 4 year old twins, a 2 year old, and a little white fluffy dog named Poppy.
She brings to the firm experience working as a licensed architect in New York. She also taught architectural design and theory in New York, Virginia, and Georgia. Following graduate school, she was awarded a Fulbright Grant to study Scandinavian modern architecture.
She had her own Charlottesville business for 15 years and enjoys keeping things running smoothly at BDA with at least one beagle beside her. With two years of experience in her home country she relocated to the U.
She has worked on a number of commercial and residential projects of various sizes, most notably as a project designer on the award winning Downtown Loft. She likes minimalist architecture, travels and spending time with her pup Nasza. While pursuing his Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania, he spent two summers in rural Turkey, preparing hand drawings of Imperial Roman ruins for the Aphrodisias Excavations Project.

These ventures add cultural richness to our work and introduce exciting, useful perspectives to the array of effective solutions to a problem.
We focus not on a particular size or type of project, but rather on creating partnerships with clients to build a better community, enrich lives, enhance the environment, and make something beautiful.
