If you are friends with a manager you have a easier chance of getting promoted. If you do not support the managers in every way, they will ultimately prevent you from being promoted.
Many great workers have left the company due to managers promoting their friends over qualified candidates, or mangers not caring about the well being or issues athletes workers deal with on a daily basis.
